I liked the fact that theywent back to were it all started. it was too long since I got to play with a black mage.
I liked the story and the ending. but I had a few complaints with the characters. I didn't like all of them. and I felt some were to hard to get to like.

OMG I FELT THE SAME WAY BUT NOONE AGREED WITH ME!!! Some of the characters were sooooo annoying! Like Vivi and Quina, god I hated them. And I just kinda ignored Amarant entirely, he had no real purpose.

What were they thinking with Quina!? any other blue mage from the past were cool. like I really want to play as a big blue hungry thing in a moo moo. Ah well.....Their is bound to be one in every game.

Bound to be a blue mage or a big hungry thing in a moo moo? Lol. Anyways I thought that Strago from FF6 was the best blue mage, as in he had the best attacks. At least he didnt eat everything and do random damage .

Why do people find the characters annoying? I thought all the characters were good except Eiko, Steiner and Quina. The storyline was good but how were they all back where they started?

I say it's returned to it's roots because it will most likely be the last FF with the super deformed characers as well had the old classes of dragoon, black mage, theif, monks, blue mage, white wiz, ect. They even had the old cystal sword at alexandria castle if anyone noticed that.
They have been changing each ff each time and this one was said to be the last FF that would have the all the good old things of the classics before they take the new path of more detailed game.

Yeah, thats what I thought you meant. But when you think about it, it was a huge jump from the "Looking Their Age" in FF8 to the originality of FF9. I think that in FF9 they should have made it more like 7. Very short on the field but adult like in the movies. In FF9 it seemed as though they were dwarfs lol ;D

Yeah, but FF7 was severly limited by what they could do with the Playstation at that time. I thought they made them dwarfs cuz it was easier.

I don't think that was the case of it being limited. after all, it pulled of 8 and that was a leap forward in visuals. I think it may have been more of tradition then anything. it followed in the foot steps of all rpgs of that time that had short fat people with big heads. the only new ground it took was the cgi backrounds that set a new standerd. They had lots of room to work with. it was only 3 cds from the amount of cg video clips that were added.

3 fairly long cds. 8 was 4 short cds.

I have noticed that some of the old games from way back had...or seemed to of had more play time to them. even with them even being 16-24 megs max. Now compare this to a cd game thats 700 megs per cd and their so much shorter. I know that they take more space for visuals and what not but its the game play time that gets shortet and shorter.

This is very true, Resident Evil for the Gamecube has astounding graphics but takes up 2 mini-discs. The new systems however are a bit better at conserving space than the original Playstation was tho.
